A guided tour

Everything you need to actually speak a new language.

AI LingoPlay drops you into real-world scenes and lets you rehearse the conversation until the words come naturally. Here’s what’s waiting inside.

01 — Real conversations

Step into a scene, meet your character.

Twelve everyday situations — from a Berlin department store to a Tokyo ticket office — each with characters who have their own personality, mood and backstory.

Twelve places to practise.

Pick a scene that matches where you’re headed. Every situation is built around the phrases you’ll really need — ordering, asking, explaining, getting help.

Characters with real personalities.

Each scene pairs you with contrasting people to talk to — a warm, motherly waitress or a theatrical star waiter. They react to what you say, so no two conversations play out the same way.

02 — Never get stuck

A gentle nudge, exactly when you need one.

Freeze up mid-conversation? There’s always a way forward — without breaking the flow or reaching for a dictionary.

Suggested responses.

Not sure what to say next? Get a ready-made reply you can read, learn from, or drop straight into the chat — shown in your language or the one you’re learning.

Things you could do.

Real conversations aren’t only words. Suggested actions let you gesture, point, or hand something over — turning a flat chat into a scene you’re actually playing.

03 — Understand every word

Never left guessing what something means.

Whenever a reply lands, you can open it right up — sentence, word, or script — and see exactly how it works.

A full message breakdown.

One tap explains a character’s message in your own language: what it means, how each word plays its part, and the little cultural notes worth knowing.

  • Word-by-word grammar, not just a translation
  • Tuned to your study level
  • “Worth knowing” notes on tone and politeness

Translate a word — or the whole line.

Curious about a single word? Tap it for an instant translation without leaving the conversation. Want the whole message? One tap reveals the full translation underneath. Underlines make every word tappable, and you can switch them off any time.

Readings for every script.

Learning Japanese, Mandarin or Cantonese? Add furigana above the characters, or reveal romaji, pinyin and jyutping underneath — so a new writing system never slows you down.

04 — Say it out loud

Practise speaking, not just typing.

The whole point is to talk. Use your voice, hear every reply, and slow it down until you catch every syllable.

Go completely hands-free.

Switch on hands-free mode and it’s like a phone call with your character — you talk, they answer aloud, back and forth, no typing at all.

Hands-free mode: a large microphone button listening for the learner’s voice

Speak your reply, or hear theirs.

Tap the mic to answer with your voice instead of the keyboard. Every character speaks their lines aloud — and if they go too fast, drop the playback to 0.75× or 0.5× to catch every word.

05 — Coaching that sticks

Feedback that helps you improve for real.

Gentle, specific, and always on your side — so you learn from every message instead of guessing whether you got it right.

Check your message before you send.

Written something but not sure it’s right? Get instant feedback on your own message — what works, what to tweak, and a more natural way to say it — before you hit send.

Your personal tips, remembered.

The app quietly notices the mistakes you make again and again, then distils them into a short list of personal tips — so you can focus on the handful of things that will move you forward fastest.

06 — Made for you, keeps you going

Pitched to your level, built to keep you coming back.

Set the difficulty once, then watch your passport fill up and your streak climb.

Your language, your level.

Choose from thirteen languages and set your level from beginner to advanced. The conversation — and the framework it’s measured against, like JLPT or CEFR — adapts to match.

Collect stamps, keep your streak.

Every scene you practise earns a passport stamp, and every day you show up builds your streak. Small wins that quietly add up to a real habit.
